Quiet
in the off season, up to 200 campers flock to this idyllic camping
ground on the banks of the Rangitikei River over the holiday period.
This influx severely taxes the 2 seater 2 shower ablution block so
much so that a septic tank truck has to call every day to take away
the wastewater. I was appointed project manager by the Rangitikei
District Council to design a suitable wastewater system. I designed
an LPED system with a 25,000 litre septic tank pumping filtered effluent
to a designated disposal area away from the busy camping ground area.

Ablutions,
shower and cooking blocks. The septic tank and pump chamber are
to the left of this.

general view of the camping ground showing some on-site caravans
and well kept open spaces. Up to 400 campers fill this area over
the Xmas holidays.

pumping chamber being lifted into position. The
25000 litre 'Uniclear' septic tank will
be lowered in next.
