EFFLUENT DISPOSAL
This steep pine plantation was the only area available for effluent disposal
as all the other areas were too wet in the winter or had high traffic
flows during Tangi's. However the steep bank also presents the problem
of erosion if the effluent is not evenly spread out over a large area,
in this case 2000 square metres. Raam, pressure compensating, trickle
irrigation tubing was used through the disposal area.
The effluent quality must be very high
(like tap water) before Raam can be used and only the Orenco
Natural Biological sand contractor can consistently produce
this quality of effluent. Wastewater designs are best done
by considering the effluent disposal area, soil type, application
rate and then designing the treatment system from there.

Tanks underground - contactor underground
behind tanksArea to be grassed and mowed. The protruding
pipes are carbon vents to prevent any odours leaking into
the air. After installation they will be cut down to reduce
visual obstruction.
